Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran would appreciate any diplomatic effort by China to reduce tensions with the United States.
“Any attempt by the Chinese to aid diplomacy will be appreciated by the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he stated at a press conference in New Delhi while attending the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting.
There have been inquiries regarding what, if any, covert assistance Beijing might be prepared to provide to help resolve the prolonged US-Israeli dispute with Iran, which has destabilized the global economy without a definitive conclusion.
China is a key diplomatic ally of Iran and its largest buyer of oil – presenting itself as a supporter of peace amid the conflict – a main subject of conversation between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump during the American leader’s trip to Beijing.
Araghchi stated that Pakistan’s mediation attempts have not been unsuccessful but are “experiencing a very challenging route mainly due to American actions.”
