Gaza City, June 3, 2025 — The Gaza Strip has once more descended into violence, with numerous fatalities and hundreds hurt as Palestinians convened to collect aid supplies and were fired upon. This marks the third day in a row of gunfire close to an aid center, exacerbating the existing humanitarian crisis in the area.
The Gaza Health Ministry reported that the most recent shooting incident took place in the Nuseirat region of central Gaza, where hundreds of individuals had assembled to obtain food and medical assistance. Local sources and eyewitnesses report that Israeli forces abruptly discharged their weapons, triggering a stampede and resulting in the deaths of multiple individuals at the scene.
Muhammad Abu Yasser, who traveled from Gaza City to Nusayrat in the early morning to gather supplies, stated:
“We were queuing for flour and food when suddenly the gunfire began.” Individuals began shouting, while kids and women collapsed to the floor. “The moment was beyond words.”
Medical sources suggest that most individuals were shot in the back, indicating they were trying to flee instead of participating in an attack.
Medical facilities are critically inadequate as hospitals in Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis are overwhelmed with the injured.

The event marked the third fatal occurrence near aid centers within the last three days. During similar assaults in northern Gaza on Sunday and Monday, at least 75 individuals lost their lives. The events serve as a wake-up signal to the global community that the humanitarian conditions in Gaza are swiftly declining toward famine and disease outbreaks.
The United Nations and global aid organizations have cautioned that famine might occur in certain regions if the circumstances are not addressed promptly. The Red Cross and the World Food Programme (WFP) stated together that “field relief efforts are currently unfeasible as staff lives are endangered by gunfire and unexpected dangers.”
Israel Defense Forces announcement
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated in a short release that their members were present in the vicinity.
“In a challenging operational scenario, as an aid convoy was moving through, our forces fired in reaction to a possible danger.”
Israeli officials assert that militants exploit the aid centers for weapon smuggling and attack planning. Nonetheless, human rights organizations claim the Israeli military is applying excessive and disproportionate measures.
Worldwide reaction
The European Union, Egypt, Jordan, and various Arab nations have firmly denounced the event and urged for a global inquiry.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated:
Attacking civilians during humanitarian missions is intolerable. All entities must adhere to international humanitarian law.
Protests in favor of the Palestinian people are occurring in cities globally, such as London, Paris, Istanbul, and New York.In the United States, there is growing demand for the Biden administration to halt arms shipments to Israel.
The extent of the humanitarian emergency
The event clearly illustrates the magnitude of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Millions are uprooted, and access to clean drinking water, electricity, medicine, and food has vanished. The aid centers are now the final lifeline for Gazans, but accessing them has turned into a life-threatening risk.
In spite of ongoing requests from the UN, a lasting and secure humanitarian corridor has not been created. Trucks delivering aid frequently face halts at the border or are looted during transit.
Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, among others, have urged immediate action by the International Criminal Court (ICC). They claim that the events qualify as war crimes.
The distressed shouts coming from within Gaza are rattling the world’s moral sense.
Samar Hani, a nurse working at a temporary medical facility, stated:
“We aren’t merely figures; we are individuals.” Each death dismantles a family, signaling the conclusion of a future.
The Gaza Strip is experiencing a humanitarian crisis that has seldom been witnessed in recent history. If the global community doesn’t implement substantial measures, this crisis may escalate into a significant disaster.
